It’s official, we are registered for the highly competitive Wednesday evening D/E Recreational DOUBLE HEADER league. Okay, highly competitive may be a little aggressive. We do know we have double headers every Wednesday evening. We’d like to officially welcome back Greg Silkey to the FRC team. He will immediately pickup his role from his last stint with the FRC of Skyline, owner of the “Kangaroo Court.” For those who are unaware of this “Kangaroo Court,” it’s purpose is to assign penalties (beverages) for various softball mishaps (three fly balls, strikeouts, etc.). Welcome back, Greg.

Upon seeing the news that we have added a “Greg” to our previous roster of existing “Greg’s,” the following comment was made (and immediately put into the Quotes Archive):

“Heavy on the Greg’s this year. Sounds like runs…”

Clearly the off-season workout program is in full swing. This is mid-season form. You come up with lines like this only whilst running the hills at SFRCP in January.

Practice Today!

SFRC have their first practice today. Alimagnet Field D 5:30pm’ish. I can only speak for myself, but 3-5 couldn’t be any more fired up. It is sunny with an expected high of 61 degrees. Brilliant weather for a first practice.

Rumor has it Sans will be handing out the new jerseys and hats. It’s been awhile since the FRC of S have looked like a team.

New rule for 2009: Whoever decided on “ash grey” jerseys owes beer for Practice #1.

Time in the Cage

We are into March, 2009. That means it is time for the SFRC to get in the batting cage. March is generally known as “Watching Pitches” month for the FRC. We won’t start swinging until early April. For now we will just watch pitches. By April 29, 2009 we will know the strike zone better than any other team in the B’Ville Wednesday nights D/E league.

This is just one of the many ways the SFRC separate themselves.
